Growth Group Foundations
Shepherd Your Family
Be a GREAT husband/Wife. Be a GREAT Father/Mother. Be a good _____________. We are always wanting to make sure that we are shepherding our families and fulfilling our calling God has placed on our lives. (1 Timothy 5:8) There is no substitute for time. Growth Groups take commitment and therefore take your time. They are fulfilling and a great way to grow, but in certain seasons of life your focus might have to be on your family. Growth Groups are designed to be in addition to Sunday Church and Life Group. In some seasons of life where you are exceedingly busy, one more thing might be too much. You might need to focus on Shepherding your family and that is ALWAYS ok.
Keep Sunday a Priority
If you are going to be a part of the Life Group, you actually have to come to Life Group. Growth Groups can be an amazing way for people to grow in deep community, but our primary responsibility is to make sure our families are in church. We cannot forsake meeting in corporate worship. "Worshiping Jesus together may be the single most important thing we do."
DIVE DEEP
You cannot get the full benefit of anything, without committing to it fully. (Mathew 8:18-22) Growth Groups are a commitment. You are committing to walk with people through their sin struggles and spiritual growth. You have to be there.
ESPN
Our Growth Groups are designed around the ESPN model. ENCOURAGEMENT: We are there to encourage each other in our struggles and our blessings. SCRIPTURE: This is the central focus of each Growth Group. It is designed around studying the scriptures together. PRAYER: As we start to share our struggles and blessing we will know how to pray for one another. NEXT STEPS: As we are sanctified, we will grow and will always need to take that next step of faith.
On Ramps and Off Ramps
Growth Groups are limited to seasons. We will be having couples added to the class throughout the year, and we want to have times where couples can evaluate if they are wanting to commit to being in a growth group. We also want to have opportunities where people who are entering a difficult season can take time to shepherd their family. We also want to keep Sunday a priority.
